3 Dads Walking 2024 Day 23 - Castle Rising to Litcham
As the days go by more people come out to find us at 7.30am. We arrived in the car park of the Black Horse, Castle Rising a few minutes early, as we prepared to leave car after car arrived and deposited supporters, most of whom wanted to walk with us.
Our route took us northeast towards Sandringham through leafy-lined roads. At the visitor centre we were met by a guard of honour made up of the visitor centre staff, after handshakes and chat we were invited to sit down and enjoy bacon butties and coffee.
After our break we continued east past the main gates of the estate and headed for Amner. Lovely walking on quiet roads flanked by wide verges with mature trees which took us onto Peddars Way, an old Roman Road heading southeast. Our large group wandered on chatting away, we covered distance surprisingly quickly.
The increasingly hot day meant we had to be mindful of hydration, we encouraged our supporters to keep drinking, we were helped in the when Russ & Andrea (Mike’s friends from Manchester) appeared unexpectedly in their camper van packed with water and icecreams!
We approached Litcham through the beautiful rolling Norfolk countryside and arrived in Litcham to an unbelievably warm and enthusiastic welcome on the village green. Another finish that made us feel humble.
Roll on tomorrow, our last long day....
If you are intending to walk with us on our last day (Day 25 -11th May) when we walk into Norwich please note, our start from Taverham will be 7.00am
